Just Create Something and Don’t Give Up

I’ve been a fan of Wil Wheaton and Chris Hardwick for a very long time and the best advice they both give is to just go our there and create whatever you want and not to give up on creating it. That’s why I started this new blog after a very long hiatus of not having one. And it’s why I submitted an application several months ago to become a writer over at GeekDad.com.

A month ago, I received an email from Ken Denmead, the publisher and head of GeekDad.com letting me know that I’d been picked to be one of their new writers. It was exciting and scary all at once. I was seeing professional writers and literal rocket scientists among others being brought on board and felt a little out of my league.

It’s now been a month, and I’ve had 14 articles published on a variety of topics from video game, TV show, and music reviews to talking about science, solar technology and more. Our podcast became part of the GeekDad Podcast Network. And I did my first ever live interview with an actual famous person – Bill Ratner, the voice of Flint from G.I. Joe! As many of you know, I have long wanted to be a voice actor and getting to meet Bill along with several other greats in the industry (Michael Bell, Wally Burr, Neil Ross) was just amazing.

So no matter what you want to do, just do it. Create it and put it out there even if you are its only audience. Create it because you’re compelled to do so.
